The Seniors program is for adults aged 50 years and up, autonomous, retired or available during the program hours (9:00 am-2:30 pm). The majority of our 150 members are English speaking seniors from Verdun and the surrounding area. Services are bilingual.

Seniors are initially attracted to Dawson for the quality programs and stay for the welcoming atmosphere, enthusiastic volunteers and caring facilitators.


Dartboard Bullseye


Mondays and Thursdays September to June.    


Teams are picked at random each week. 

2 teams of up to 6 players in average. (If more than 12 players, we use 3 boards – 3 teams.)

We start at 501 points and subtract down to zero, but we finish with a double.

We also play one Thursday morning out of two, 10:00 am to Noon.


Wednesdays from September to June.


2 Teams are picked at random each week.   

If we are 9 players or less,  we play regular sandbags.  If we are 10 or more, we play Baseball Sand-Bags. 

We stop in the middle for beverages and snacks.


Monday, 9:30 am to 11:30 am from September to June.   

Free to play with an Annual Membership.

2 to 5 tables are set up. Players decide which card games to play at each table, board games are also welcome.

OKO:   One Thursday out of two  9:30 am. to 12:15 pm, runs from September to June. 

Free to play with an Annual Membership.

2 to 4 tables are set up. Players alternate calling the Cards.

Friday, 12:15 pm to 2:15 pm from September to June.  

Costs $2.50 to play with an Annual Membership.

The basic fee includes 2 bingo cards. 

You can buy more at 25 cents each.

Snack and beverages included, so are Door Prizes. The Half & half draw is separate.

Seniors park activity


When the Indoor Games finish, if the weather permits, we move to playing Petanque, Croquet, Sand-Bags in a Park in Verdun. Dates and times to be determined. Free with membership!

Wednesdays, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm from September to June.

We take a maximum of 12 registrations per season. We play 2 against 2  and Teams change after each game. 

Players count the points but we play for fun.

 Seasonal Fees are $15 to $25 according to length of season.


Tuesdays, 12:30 pm  to 2:15 pm, September to June.     

We play 1 against 1 and change players after each game. 

Players count the points but we play for fun.  

One or two tables are installed.

The classes promote flexibility and balance, concentration and relaxation.  

Chi-Kung movements are used at the beginning of each class as a warm-up and for their health benefits.

Tuesday and Fridays, 10:00 to 11:30 am.


Tuesday, 11:00 am to Noon. September to June. Fees are by season with an annual membership. This class is designed to be gentle and easy to follow. Techniques from a variety of disciplines such as yoga, Pilates and mobility training, are used to help restore ease of movement for people of all fitness levels. The classes include both chair and standing postures. There is also a short mat section but people can remain seated if desired. Modifications are offered throughout the class so that everyone feels comfortable.

Thursdays, 1:30 to 2:30 pm. September to June.

Fees by season with annual membership fee.


These fully accessible classes are designed to include those with less mobility, injuries or health challenges. Light weights and elastics are used to help people regain ease of movement and strength. Modifications are given for all fitness levels and individual needs. All exercises can be done from a chair or standing, or a combination of both.


Mondays and Thursdays, September to June. With annual membership fee.


Open gym classes are designed to keep everyone moving well throughout their lifespan. Simple equipment such as weights and elastics are used to promote strength, balance, cardiovascular training and laughter for participants of all ages and abilities. Modifications are given to accommodate most fitness levels. Classes include a short cardiovascular workout, followed by muscle training and finally, some stretching on a mat or chair.

READING & DISCUSSION GROUP (Thomas More Institute)

Wednesdays, 10:00 to 11:30 am from  October to March.  

Fall and Winter Sessions are $20 each with an Annual Membership.  


Part of the outreach program of Thomas More Institute.  Texts (12 to 25 pages) are given at the end of a class. Participants talk about the texts the following week, in a conversation format where each participant can bring knowledge to the group.



Foot Massage

Foot Care Clinic

Monday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Year round, once every 3 or 4 weeks (Dates May Vary.)

Services: Cleaning, filing and foot care. Expertise with thick nails, nails with fungus, corns, callus, ingrown toenails, foot massage (Reflexology) and prevention for diabetics.

*Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic this service is currently on pause

Income Tax Assistance

We start booking appointments on the first week of February.


Appointments are in March and April.  

For Adults 50 years and up.  With an annual income of $ 25 000 or less.

We book appointments on a First come-First serve basis with volunteers trained by the Volunteer Program of both Revenu-Canada and Revenu-Québec.   

$15 for non-members,  $5 for members. 


Method: With a computer at Dawson and professional software. Clients bring all their Personnal Informations and Tax Papers (Slips).  A volunteer fills both Income Tax Reports, send them electronically to both governments, and print a brief report for the clients.
